  1. Has anyone experienced or heard of recent sightings (within the last 10
  2. years) in Andean Regions of Bolivia?  While hiking high on the Altiplano
  3. in Bolivia 10 years ago this January, I witnessed a dazzling display of
  4. bright, laser-like lights shooting up at the sky behind a bluff nearly two
  5. miles away late at night with a group of Quechua-speaking indigenous
  6. farmers.  When I asked them what it was they smiled and refused to tell
  7. me.  After insisting for them to tell me what I was seeing they explained
  8. it came from up there, pointing at the night sky. "Military?" I asked,
  9. knowing that the U.S. were present in Bolivia.  The Bolivians shook their
  10. heads and pointed to the sky again. I nervously followed my companions
  11. back to our sleeping quarters--a half hour hike down the bluff we were
  12. standing on in the pitch dark of night. The name of the bluff is
  13. Misquipampa, outside of Cochabamba, Bolivia.
